CONSTITUTIONAL MINUTE
The Ten Commandments, Yet Again! As most of us also know, the Ten Commandments are now back in the news, this time in the nearby state of Louisiana. The Louisiana Legislature passed and the Governor signed House Bill 71 which required the posting of the Ten Commandments in Louisiana public school classrooms and allowed for the posting of other historical documents such as The Mayflower Compact and The Northwest Ordinance of 1787 “to educate and inform the public as to the history and background of American and Louisiana law”.

Everything Costs More Thanks To Joe Biden Biden can try to gaslight the American people about his failed economy, but Bidenomics has made life for working families harder and unaffordable. In Joe Biden’s economy everything costs more. April’s Consumer Price Index increased 3.4% compared to last year – twice the rate compared to when Biden took office and higher than expected. Inflation has been at or above 3% for 37 straight months, well above the Fed’s average target of 2%. Core consumer prices – stripping out food and energy rose by 3.6%. Since Biden took office prices have risen by 19.9%. On year over year basis, inflation under Biden has averaged 5.5% more than double the level of inflation seen under any of the last 4 presidents. Groceries are up a whopping 21.3% since Biden took office. Families are struggling with persistent inflation. Real wages remain lower than when Biden first took office. Under Joe Biden, the cost of living is becoming increasingly unaffordable. Hardworking Americans are struggling to survive financially as Bidenomics continues to drain the wallets of families and businesses across the country. Bidenomics has cost the middle class $2.4 trillion since March 2022. Americans have now lost over $4,170 paying higher energy costs since Biden took office. The Fed has hiked interest rates 11 times since March 2022 – now at their highest level in 22 years – making it harder for families to buy a home, finance a car, pay off debt, and perform various other financial transactions. Americans are struggling to pay their debts, save for retirement, or afford rent. For the lower 80% of American households, liquid assets have dropped below pre-pandemic levels and Americans are quickly depleting any savings accumulated during the pandemic, with only 20% of households above board. To make matters worse, more Americans are taking on additional debt just to cover daily expenses, finding their regular income is no longer enough to make ends meet. Polling shows that Americans are not happy with Biden’s economy. A majority of Americans rate the economy as poor, according to a New York Times poll. Only 38% of voters rate the Biden economy as good, compared to 65% under President Trump, according to CBS News. More voters currently view Trump as better for the economy than Biden, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll. As working-class families struggle to make ends meet thanks to inflation, voters know Democrats are to blame for rising prices. Republican-led states continue to drive job growth. Bottom Line: Americans know the only way back to economic prosperity is re-electing President Donald J. Trump in November. |

Republicans Back The Blue Americans trust that President Trump will restore law & order. Biden has empowered soft-on-crime Democrats. Biden has failed to stand up to the radicals in his own party who have pushed for defunding the police and has surrounded himself with an administration full of defund the police activists. Biden’s Vice President Kamala Harris supports “reimagining” the police, saying putting “more police on the streets” is not the way to make communities safer. Biden’s Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta stated “It is also critical… to decrease police budgets and the scope, role, and responsibility of police in our lives.” Biden’s Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division Kristen Clarke wrote an op-ed where she repeatedly called for defunding cops, saying “we must invest less in police.” Anti-police rhetoric has made it harder to hire and retain law enforcement officers. The Police Executive Research Forum found a nationwide decline of 4.8% in police numbers compared to three years ago. Since 2020, several small towns have had to completely disband their police departments due to hiring challenges as well as budget constraints. The San Francisco Police Department has more than 500 openings while the San Francisco Police Academy is struggling to recruit new potential officers. More than 2,500 police officers resigned from the New York Police Department in 2023, 43% more than in 2018. As part of city budget cuts, New York City will suspend police academy classes for 1.5 years, making it even more difficult for police precincts to find new officers. The Washington, D.C., police force is at its smallest size in 50 years amidst a staggering rise in carjackings and homicides. Crime is on the rise as Democrats refuse to let police do their job. In most cities, homicide rates remain higher than pre-pandemic levels. Homicides in Chicago are up more than 23% compared to 2019. Murders in New York City are up 23.1% from 2019 levels, while felony assault is up 35.4%. Last year in Washington, D.C., car thefts were up 82%, homicides up 35%, and robberies up 67%. Police in St. Louis have complained that “a lack of respect for law enforcement” has led to rise in people refusing to pull over for traffic violations. Due to restraints on policing, police are not allowed to pursue people who fail to pull over when flagged for traffic violations. Bottom Line: Americans are concerned about rising crime plaguing their communities and endangering their families. President Donald J. Trump will end the lawlessness once again. |
